Hunting for Shamrocks

Hunting for Shamrocks

[25 Minutes]

Play hide and seek with shamrocks and help develop your child's number recognition skills.

You'll need:

• green construction paper • pencil • scissors • markers • cardboard

What to do:

  1. Make a shamrock pattern (4-5" in size) out of cardboard.
  2. Invite your child to help you trace around the shamrock pattern on the green paper, making at least 12-15 shamrocks.
  3. Cut them out together.
  4. Write a number on each shamrock, depending on your child's skill level. For instance, 0-5 or 6-10. Make 2 or 3 of each number.
  5. While she hides her eyes, hide the shamrocks around the room.
  6. At the signal, invite her to hunt for the shamrocks. When all have been found, have her place the ones that match together. Ask her to name the numbers and then to place them in order from lowest to highest.
  7. If she is still interested, have her hide the shamrocks for you to find. Invite her to name each number as you find it.
