Kwanzaa Sing-Along
[15 Minutes]
Kwanzaa is a time for family unity. You and your child can teach this song to family and friends for a holiday sing-along!
You'll need:
candle, battery-operated candle, or flashlight matches
What to do:
- Light a candle in a darkened room, placing the candle in a spot where it cannot be reached by your child. A safer way would be to use a flashlight or battery-operated candle.
- Invite your child to sing this Kwanzaa candle song with you. Let the entire family join in this sing-along (Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"):
Seven little candles in a row, Waiting to join the holiday glow. We will light them one by one Until all seven have joined the fun. Seven little candles burning bright Filling the world with holiday light.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- How many candles do you see in the Kinara (candleholder)?
- What colors do you see?
- What things do you like best about this year's Kwanzaa?
Useful information:
While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop language skills.
