Candlelight Snuggle Song

Light a candle and enjoy the magical glow as you sing this quiet song together.

You'll need:

• candle in a holder • clean glass jar

What to do:

1. Darken the room. Light the candle and place it well out of reach. (This is a good time to stress fire, matches, and candle safety.)
2. Encourage your child to sit on your lap and watch the flickering light. Hum softly if you like.
3. Sing the "Candle, Candle" song. Enjoy the quiet moment together. (Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"):

   Candle, candle, burning bright,
   Giving us some quiet light.
   As we snuggle close together
   Giving hugs and love forever,
   Candle, candle, burning bright
   Giving us some quiet light.

4. Ask your child to observe what happens as you place a clean glass jar over the flame.
5. Raise and lower it several times and watch what happens. Cover the candle with the jar and count how long it takes for the flame to go out.
