Reindeer Puppet and Song

Reindeer Puppet and Song

[25 Minutes]

Together, make this easy puppet and use it to sing this fun holiday song.

You'll need:

• twigs • tape • red pom-pom • paper plate • brown markers, crayons, or paint • black marker or crayon • brown construction paper

What to do:

  1. Go for a walk with your child and collect some long and short twigs.
  2. Back at home, invite your child to color the paper plate brown.
  3. Then ask her to cut or tear two “ear” shapes.
  4. Together create your puppet by taping the ears and “antlers” (short twigs)
  5. Tape on the pom-pom for a nose.
  6. Ask your child to draw a mouth and eyes on the reindeer.
  7. Add a long twig for a handle and you have a puppet!
  8. Together with your child, use the puppet to sing the following song: (Tune: “Alphabet Song!”)
    Little reindeer,
    Pull my sleigh,
    Flying high this snowy day.
    Over houses, forests green,
    Tell me everything you’ve seen.
    Little reindeer,
    Pull my sleigh,
    Flying high this snowy day.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What should we name our reindeer?
  • What do you think the reindeer would say if he flew over our house (apartment)?
