What to do:
- Ask your child to bundle up and join you on a walk to discover the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and feel of winter with you!
- Encourage him to smell the pine trees, feel the cold branches and prickly pine needles and holly leaves.
- Consider recording your child's observations as you walk.
- If there is snow, crunch it as you walk.
- Visit a bakery and smell their breads and cakes; buy some to eat or take home!
- If you are near a music store, listen to the sounds of music.
- Discuss the experience when you get home.
How to use:
- Invite your child to help you write about your winter walk. You can write down his comments or use those you wrote down on the walk itself.
- Encourage him to illustrate the experience by drawing or painting a picture.
