Star Salad
[20 Minutes]
Use the fresh fruits of summer to create this fun and delicious salad.
You'll need:
green lettuce leaves 1/2 slice (1 inch thick) watermelon for each salad 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1 Tbsp. fresh blueberries knife (ADULT USE ONLY) plates measuring cup and spoons spoon
What to do:
- Let your child help clean lettuce and place on a plate.
- Cut the watermelon slice into 5 equal wedges. Cut away and throw out the rind.
- Show your child how to place melon wedges on the lettuce leaves with the points outward to make a star.
- There will be a hole in the middle. Suggest that your child fill it with cottage cheese. Encourage her suggestions also.
- Invite your child to sprinkle the blueberries on top of the center of the star.
- Make several stars and use them as a table decoration for a holiday celebration.
