A Song about Winter

A Song about Winter

[15 Minutes]

On a snowy or stormy winter day when your child can't go out to play, sing and act out this winter song together.

What to do:

  1. Teach your child the following song (Tune: "Are You Sleeping?"):
    Let's go tramping.
    Let's go tramping,
In the snow, in the snow.
    Crunchy snow beneath us,
    Tracks following behind us,
    Away we go,
    Through the snow.

    Let's go sliding.
    Let's go sliding,
On the ice, on the ice.
    Smooth and slippery cold,
    Pick up some to hold.
    Feels so nice,
    Cold, cold ice.
  2. Invite your child to act out what is going on in the song.

How to use:

Change the words together to describe other activities in the snow. (sledding, skating, or making a snowman)

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What would be fun to do in the snow?
  • Do you like making up songs? Let's sing this for the entire family.

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop language skills.
