Hookey Spooky

Hookey Spooky

[20 Minutes]

Turn the traditional "Hokey Pokey" dance into a musical Halloween activity.

What to do:

  1. Invite your child to follow your directions as you sing this Halloween version of Hokey Pokey.
  2. As he learns the words, encourage him to sing along.
Put your right hand in, take your right hand out.
Put your right hand in and shake it all about.
Do the Hookey Spooky and everybody shout,
That's what it's all about. BOO!
  3. Continue with other verses like "put your left hand in..., put your right foot in..., put your left foot in..., put your head in..., put your body in...", and so on.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Did you like playing this Halloween game? What is the best part of the song?
  • What other sounds could you make instead of "Boo"?

Useful information:

While you are playing together, your child is developing language skills and learning to follow directions.
