Jack-O-Lantern Walk

Jack-O-Lantern Walk

[20 Minutes]

Enjoy the brightness of jack-o-lanterns on a dark fall night. Sing this song as you walk and look for these lighted pumpkins.

What to do:

  1. Take a walk through your neighborhood looking for Jack-O-Lanterns.
  2. Sing the Jack-O-Lantern song as you go, helping your child join in as she hears it repeated.
  3. Leave off the last word in each line and challenge her to fill it in.
  4. Think of the rhyming pairs of words in the song, and then challenge your child to think of other rhyming words.
  5. Jack-O-Lantern song (Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star")
    Jack-O-Lantern shining bright,
Smiling at me in the night,
Face with teeth and mouth so wide,
Follows me from side to side.
    Jack-O-Lantern shining bright,
Smiling at me in the night.
