Leaf Creatures
[20 Minutes]
Take a walk and collect some leaves. Then marvel together at the intricate shapes and sizes of the leaves you have collected.
You'll need:
a few fall leaves
glue
crayons or markers
paper
What to do:
- On a fall walk, gather a few leaves with your child and talk about their shapes and colors.
- Challenge him to make a leaf into an animal, a person, or a make-believe creature.
- Encourage him to glue a leaf onto paper and add features such as legs, faces, and hair with crayons or markers.
- Invite him to add background scenery also.
- Help your child write or dictate a story about the leaf creature and its adventures: Where is it going? What will it do?
- Write down the words to his story.
