English Muffin Jack-O-Lanterns

English Muffin Jack-O-Lanterns

[20 Minutes]

Enjoy a healthy holiday treat. These jack-o-lanterns make an easy lunch or light supper that's fun to eat.

You'll need:

• English muffins or round crackers • cheese spread or peanut butter • plastic spoons • Cheerios • raisins • celery pieces • olives

What to do:

  1. Help your child make her own jack-o-lantern with English muffins or round crackers as the base.
  2. Encourage her to spread cheese spread or peanut butter. Use plastic spoons as spreaders.
  3. Invite your child to make faces by sticking on small snack foods, such as Cheerios, raisins, celery pieces, and olives.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Have you ever seen a jack-o-lantern made from a pumpkin?
  • What kind of face will you make on your jack-o-lantern? Happy? Sad? Scary?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop small muscle skills and eye/hand coordination.
