St. Patrick's Day Green Milkshake

[20 Minutes]

Here is a way to show your child how mixing different things together can form something new.

You'll need:

• 1 cup sliced kiwi fruit • 1/2 cup milk • 2 scoops lime sherbet • 1 tsp. lemon juice • blender • measuring spoon and cups • knife (ADULT USE ONLY)

What to do:

  1. Invite your child to help you combine all the ingredients except the sherbet in the blender.
  2. Cover and blend at high speed for 5-10 seconds. Invite your child to push the buttons.
  3. Let your child drop the scoops of sherbet into the blender.
  4. Blend on low speed until thick and smooth.
  5. Serve in plastic cups and enjoy this green treat together on St. Patrick's Day!

How to use:

  1. While you are enjoying this drink, sing this song together. (Tune: "Did You Ever See A Lassie?"):
  2. Did you ever drink a milkshake, a milkshake, a milkshake,
Did you ever drink a milkshake that is so-so green?
It tastes very "yummy" and tickles your tummy.
Did you ever drink a milkshake that is so-so green?

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Do you like milkshakes?
  • What did we put into the milkshake that made it green?
  • What else could we mix in the milkshake to make it yummy?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing language skills and learning to follow directions.
