Spring Bubble, Hop, Pop
[15 Minutes]
You and your child can create you own obstacles to hop around or over as you chase bubbles. Playing this game helps develop strength and coordination in the legs and provides an all over cardio-vascular fitness.
You'll need:
a jar of bubbles with a wand different-sized wands (if possible) a watch with a second hand
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
- With your child, gather everything you’ll need.
- Tell your child the object of this game is to hop on one leg, to chase the bubbles, and to pop them.
How to play:
- Together, decide where your “bubble, hop, pop,” course will be. Pick a start and finish.
- In the spring, you could make an obstacle course that includes left over snowbanks, fallen branches, and small tree stumps.
- Let your child decide who will hop and pop first.
- The bubble blower blows the bubbles through the course you have chosen.
- The hopper hops on one leg, chasing the bubbles and popping them until she reaches the finish line, or until all the bubbles are popped.
- Remember to hop using the same leg.
- Switch roles and let your child blow the bubbles while you hop.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Did you get out of breath. Why do you think that happened?
- What part of your body became the most tired?
- What other way could you chase the bubbles and still pop them?
- Did you like being the bubble blower or the bubble popper?
