Design a Super Hero
[20 Minutes]
This is a creative exercise challenge that pits each super hero against the other to see who can do the most super human exercises in a row. These exercises are also a great memory challenge.
You'll need:
2 capes (large scraps of material or towels) 2 clothespins or safety pins for fastening capes
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
- With your child, gather everything you’ll need.
- Tell your child that the object of this game is to create a series of exercises or movements that your super hero can perform.
- Together, decide on the exercises.
- Some examples:
jumping over sticks frog hopping cartwheels somersaults
- String these exercises together--first do 3 cartwheels, 10 frog hops, then run to the tree...
How to play:
- Put on your capes.
- Let your child decide who will go first. If you are playing with more than one child, flip a coin or think of a number from 1-10.
- Let the first super hero perform his routine.
- Now it is the second super hero’s turn.
- Each super hero may also wish to do a routine together.
- Decide which super hero performed the most challenging routine.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Do you have a name for your super hero. What is the hero’s name?
- Which exercise took the most strength?
- How do you feel after your exercise?
