Scribble to the Music

Scribble to the Music

Older toddlers can begin to scribble and listen to music. Playing music and drawing together, helps your child develop listening skills and important thinking skills.

You'll need:

• fat crayons • paper • record, tape or cd

What to do:

Give your toddler large crayons and paper. It may be helpful to tape the paper to the table if she can't hold it down while coloring. Play different types of music. Encourage your child to scribble to the music. Try playing fast music, slow music, soft music. See if your child scribbles differently to the various types of music. Turn the music off when you are finished.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Listen to the fast music.
  • Let's color to the fast music.
  • Do you hear the slow music?
  • Let's color to the slow music.
