A Gift Mug

The Beaker Folk are thought to have lived during the late Neolithic Era-early Bronze Age. They were named for their distinctive pottery and bell-shaped beakers or drinking vessels. The Beakers were also known for their lavish burial sites. People were buried with many of their possessions, including their favorite drinking beaker or mug. Choose your favorite type of mug, decorate it, and give to someone special.
You'll need:
oven-safe soup mug ceramic paints in a variety of colors (Read warning on packaging.) fine line paintbrush wide, flat paintbrush
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
- With your child, gather everything you'll need.
- The ceramic paints dry very quickly, so you and your child may wish to write down what will be written on the mug before it is painted.
- Invite your child to place small amounts of the paint on the paper plate.
- Paint the phrases you and she have chosen in random directions.
- You can use such phrases as:
"Get Well Soon!" "I Hope You Feel Better" "I Love You!" "Happy Birthday!"
- Allow to dry.
How to use:
- Fill the mug with such items as a can of soup and crackers.
- You can also fill the mug with packages of tea and coffee or hot chocolate.
- This mug filled with goodies would be a welcomed gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, St. Patrick's Day or any occasion.
