Toy Walk
When you go for a short walk with your toddler, bring a stuffed animal along. Talking about what you see and hear helps young children learn to talk and to develop important thinking skills.
You'll need:
stuffed animal or large doll
What to do:
Together with your child, take a short walk outside. Encourage him to take a stuffed toy or doll along. Make sure he chooses one he can carry. During the short walk, invite your child to tell his toy what he sees and hears; let him point things out. Help your child say words for what he sees.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- Which of your animals do you want to take for a walk?
- Show your toy where you play outside.
- Show your toy the car. The house. The tree.
