Make Your Own Picture Book

Make Your Own Picture Book

Be an author and make your own picture book for your toddler! Looking at pictures together and talking about what you see helps young children develop important language skills.

You'll need:

• photographs • inexpensive photo album or loose-leaf binder • cardboard • glue • string or yarn

What to do:

Take photos of everyone in your family (pets included), your home, including your child's room and your favorite neighborhood places. You can also make category books with pictures of animals, foods, or vehicles. Use a photo album, binder or glue each picture on cardboard, punch holes, and tie the pieces together with string or yarn. You'll have hours of fun looking at this personal, custom-made book and talking about the people you love, where you live, and what you do together!

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Where's your crib? Where's your high chair?
