Go for a Walk and Make a Holiday Gift

Take a nature walk together and look for tree branches to decorate for the holidays.

You'll need:

• appropriate walking clothes • a bag to hold collected branches • construction paper • tape or glue • scissors (ADULT USE)

What to do:

1. Together take a nature walk. Encourage your child to look for pine tree branches. If pine trees do not grow in your area any tree branch will do.
2. Make paper chains to decorate the branch.
3. Cut strips from construction paper. Help your child make loops with the strips and tape or glue them to form a circle.
4. Fasten each loop into another until you have made a chain.
5. Invite your child to decorate the tree branch with the paper chain.
6. Challenge him to decide who to give the holiday decoration to.
